Fennick-Streather

A river of shredded steel flows from a back room through a pane of glass and into a cold, damp mid-winter city gallery garden.

Two display cabinets made of steel mark the beginning and the end of this work. The “elements” on display are preserved and nourished in the interior space of the Gallery, but are drawn through a corrosive journey into the outside world.

The “elements” respond and interact according to their own specific environment. One encroaches on the other but time works its way. As the show progresses, the preservation and the corrosion of the “elements” will build up to a chemical tension.

Bobbie Fennick works with material processes and the qualities of domestic preservation. She was born in San Francisco, studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and lived in Berlin. This is her first solo show in London.
